Spokane Valley Meals on Wheels has been serving the elderly and disabled persons of the Spokane Valley for over 30 years.

We serve over 7000 meals per month in our home-delivered meal program.

We operate 4 Senior Lunch Programs where seniors who are not homebound can come together and enjoy a meal and social interaction.

Volunteers provide a daily check on the well-being of our meal recipients, helping to obtain timely assistance in the case of a medical emergency.  Many times, our volunteer is the only human contact the client has on a daily basis.  250 volunteers donate their time, gas, and compassion.

We deliver meals to people from Havana to the Idaho state line; 4800 blocks north and 4800 blocks south. We have 23 routes with 10 to 15 stops on each route.

Our Goals:

  • To improve nutrition in the homebound elderly and disabled by providing hot, noon meals that meet 1/3 of the USDA requirements five times a week, and frozen meals on weekends.

  • To promote independence and dignity to the homebound elderly and disabled by allowing them to remain in their homes longer.

  • To have volunteers serve as “gatekeepers” to our clients who are often isolated and do not have daily contact with anyone other than the Meals of Wheels Volunteer.

In 2006, we served over 84,000 home delivered meals.  We served another 15,000 at our Senior Lunch Programs.  I

In a recent survey most seniors stated that they would prefer to live out the remainder of their lives in their own homes. The generations that have given so much to America now need our help in order to be given that choice and to remain living with dignity.
